The
Economic Development Commission consists of seven members and two alternates.
Alternates participate in the discussion of issues like regular members, but may only vote
when a regular member is absent.
The
Economic Development Commission advises the City Council in all matters relating
to the economic development of the community including efforts in pursuit of recruitment
of new business and industry; retention and expansion of existing business and industry;
diversification of the community's economy; jobs; increased community tax base; and
planning the coordination of the community's economic development resources and efforts.
The
Commission is particularly charged with responsibility for developing and
implementing the Star City program of the Minnesota Department of Trade
and Economic Development.
Each
commissioners term runs for three years. Meetings are the third Wednesday of the
month at 7:15 a.m. at City Hall, 6000 McColl Road, Savage. Agendas for each meeting
are available at City Hall on the Friday prior to the meeting.
