of Savage has approximately 280 acres of city-managed park space. |
The City of Savage has
demonstrated its commitment to the preservation of open space for the recreational purposes of its citizens.
The community currently contains approximately 304 acres of city-managed park lands, as well as over 2,400 acres
of state and county-managed park space. Below is a list of the parks within the City of Savage,
as well as a description of the amenities and activities that can be found at each.

Canterbury Park
Address: 1344 Inglewood Avenue South
Canterbury Park is a 20-acre park located within Canterbury Square and Wellington Estates
on Inglewood Avenue. This neighborhood park offers two ballfields, a soccer field, tennis courts,
a volleyball court, play equipment, a warming house/shelter, and a free skate and hockey rink
facility.
Cates Lake Tot Lot
Address: 15101 Aquila Avenue
One acre tot lot located on Aquila Ave. across from Cates Lake access. The park has a small shelter, play equipment and half a basketball court.
Boudin's Acres Park
Address: 14655 Hampshire Avenue
Boudin's Acres Park is a 5.5 acre park located on Dakota Avenue between Chadwick Park and Dufferin Park subdivisions.
Eagle Creek Park
Address: Independence Avenue and Preserve Trail
Eagle Creek Park is a 4-acre park that has a playground area, shelter,
basketball court, ballfield and walking trails. This park was
completed in 2002.
Glendale Park
Address: 5901 135th Street West
This 6.5-acre park is located on 137th Street in Rolling Meadows and Huntington
Estates. This park has one ballfield, play equipment, volleyball, and shelter areas. The
pedestrian system links Glendale Park to Community Park and Trost Park.
Hamilton Hills Park
Address: 9000 West 136th Street
Hamilton Hills is a 4-acre park located on 136th Street in the Hamilton Hills Subdivision.
The park was constructed in 1999 and includes a youth ballfield, play equipment, basketball court,
soccer field, and an open-air shelter.

Credit River winds through Hidden Valley Park |
Hidden Valley Park
Address: 5000 132nd Street
Hidden Valley is a 45-acre park located at Glendale Road and 132nd Street. This
community park is unique because of its natural aesthetics and ornamental qualities. The Credit
River runs through the park and offers excellent opportunities for gatherings, walking,
picnicking, and viewing. The park offers a large picnic shelter, volleyball court, ballfield,
play equipment, and pedestrian system.
Heatherton
Ridge Park
Address: 9051 Heatherton Ridge Drive
Heatherton Ridge Park is a 5-acre neighborhood park that has a playground area,
shelter, basketball court, volleyball court, soccer field and walking
trail. This park was completed in 2001.
Hollywood Park
Address: 12840 Lynn Avenue South
Hollywood Park is a 5-acre linear park located on Lynn Avenue and 128th Street.
This park offers basketball, volleyball, play equipment and shelter facilities.
Loftus Park
Address: 13988 Vernon Avenue South
This 5-acre park is located on Vernon Avenue. This neighborhood park offers a ballfield,
basketball court, volleyball court, play equipment, and open space.
McCann Park
Address: 7125 South Park Drive
McCann Park is a 13-acre park located on the corner of South Park Drive and Louisiana Ave. This park offers active and passive recreation opportunities and two baseball fields, soccer field, shelter, play area, water, basketball court, and trials.
O'Connell Park
Address: 5165 South Park Drive
O'Connell Park is a 26-acre park located in the Parkwood Hills, Timberline Ridge, South Hills and
Dufferin developments. Access to the park is at South Park Drive, Ottawa Avenue and Oakborough
Drive. Six additional acres were developed in 1995, and include a ballfield, basketball court,
paved hockey rink, and pleasure rink. Existing facilities include tennis courts, a soccer field,
a ballfield, and a pedestrian system.
Redtail Ridge Park
Address: 6414 154th Street South
This 10.5-acre park is located next to Redtail Ridge Elementary School located on 154th Street. This park will be completed in 2008 with trails, ½ soccer field and a parking lot. This park also has approximately 6 acres of wetland and natural resources, which will have a trail system connected to it.
River Bend Park
Address: 14347 Joppa Avenue South
This 5-acre park is located on Joppa Avenue. River Bend Park was completed in 1998 and offers
a softball field, basketball court,
horseshoe pit, play equipment, and warming house with pleasure rink.

are open from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
No one is allowed in the parks after these hours.

dogs permitted unless leashed.
Pet owners are responsible for pickup and removal of animal
feces.

Vehicles
permitted only on roads and designated parking lots.

fires except in designated areas.

firearms, hunting, or trapping is allowed in parks.

tents or structures without permission.

is unlawful to bring beer into a park in kegs, barrels or other
bulk tap quantities.
No consumption on or within thirty feet of a roadway or
parking lot within park or on any athletic field, by City ordinance.

River Bend Tot Lot
Address: 14504 Joppa Avenue South
This ½ -acre "tot lot" is located on Joppa Avenue with a quiet play area for parents and young
children.
Savage Community Park
Address: 13500 Dakota Avenue South
Savage Community Park is a 53-acre park located on County Road 27 that provides active and passive
opportunities for young and old. The park is home to the adult softball complex, which has league
games five nights per week. It is also home to many different weekend events throughout the summer.
Amenities include tennis courts, basketball court, hockey and pleasure rinks, warming house, picnic
shelter, skate park and approximately 2 miles of pedestrian pathway. McColl Pond is located on the western
edge of the park and offers walkers, rollerbladers and bicyclists a spectacular view. The
McColl Pond Environmental Learning Center
offers the opportunity to see pre-settlement conditions.
Native prairies, wildflowers and oak savannah dominate this 10-acre park area. An outdoor classroom
and trail area provides a natural setting for environmental education classes. Eight acres were
added between 1997 and 1999 in an attempt to preserve an upland forest from development.
Community Park is host to the annual Dan Patch Days Celebration.
Schroeder's Acres Park
Address: 12320 Boone Avenue South
This 20-acre park is located off of Boone Avenue and Highway 13/101. This park offers three ballfields, a soccer field, hockey and pleasure rinks, a picnic shelter, pedestrian system, volleyball
court, and plenty of open space.
Summit Pointe Park
Address: 13751 Boone Avenue South
Summit Pointe is a 16-acre park and corridor located on Boone Avenue between the Pointe and Summit
Ponds Subdivisions. Park amenities include two softball/baseball fields,
soccer field, large and small playground area, shelter, basketball court,
natural area and walking trail.
Trost Park
Address: 5455 137th Street West
This 10-acre park is located on Vernon Avenue and 137th Street. This park is one of the
older city parks that offer active and passive opportunities. Amenities include play equipment,
hockey and pleasure rinks, warming house/shelter and ballfield. New play equipment was installed
in 1996.

Warren Butler Park
Address: 12800 Ottawa Avenue South
Warren Butler is a 26-acre park located next to M.W. Savage Elementary School. This community park
offers plenty of open and active space to meet any need. Amenities include four ballfields, one
baseball field, soccer fields, tennis courts, a pleasure rink with warming house, and horseshoe
courts.
Woodhill
Park
Address: 8901 W 138th St.
Woodhill Park is an
8-acre neighborhood park that has a small playground area, skating rink and
warming house, soccer fields and walking trail. This park was completed in
2001.
Eagle Creek Aquatic Management Area
This 400-foot corridor along the east and west branches of Eagle Creek was acquired by the DNR to maintain
the overall health of the stream. Several governmental and environmental groups have come together to
manage and develop the corridor in efforts to protect the creek located in northwest Savage. Eagle Creek
is one of the few remaining trout streams in the Metro Area.
Murphy Hanrehan Park Reserve
Located in south Savage off of Hanrehan Lake Boulevard, this 2,400-acre
regional park is operated by Scott-Hennepin County Parks. This park is undeveloped except for trails,
which include opportunities for walkers, bikers, horses, snowmobiles and cross-country skiers.
