
The primary task of the Building Inspections Department is to ensure that the new construction of buildings within the City meets minimum standards as regulated by the International Building Code and International Residential Code, the International Mechanical Code, the International Fuel Gas Code and the Minnesota Plumbing Code. These codes ensure that the buildings are safe and pose no risk to the public's welfare. The department works with homeowners and contractors to ensure that residential homes and commercial buildings meet the required safety guidelines.
The Building Inspections Department consists of one building official, two building inspectors, one full-time administrative assistant and two part-time administrative assistants.
