The Planning Department is responsible for guiding development and regulating land use within the City. The department is primarily divided into planning and mapping/GIS. The Planning Department staff consists of the Planning Manager, Senior Planner and GIS Technician.

Typical duties include:

• Implementation of Comprehensive Plan
• Provide professional advice, technical expertise and information support to other City Departments, Planning Commission and City Council
• Administers and enforces Zoning and Subdivision Ordinances
• Sign regulation
• Assists in building permit review
• Addressing
• Mapping and GIS
• Process land use applications
• Development review
• Site plan review
• Oversight of City's document management and imaging program
• Update demographic information
• Provide counter service and general information to public
