Performs moderately difficult technical and mechanical work in the operation and maintenance of City water, storage and distribution, and sanitary sewer systems; operates equipment and performs maintenance and repairs.

Performs work involving the inspection of structures to ensure code compliance, including conducting building inspections, issuing correction notices, inspecting new construction sites at various project phases, providing solutions to builders and contractors to resolve code compliance issues, and explaining changes to contractors and the general public.

Paid On-Call Firefighter

Experience and Training
High school diploma or GED equivalency; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the work.

Special Requirements
Must be 18 years of age.  Possession of and ability to maintain a valid Minnesota driver’s license. Sound physical and mental health. Seven minute emergency call response time is required. Additional Physical Requirements includes color vision correctable to 20/20. Must pass a comprehensive pre-employment physical exam including drug screen. Current compliance with minimum physical fitness program standards is required including the ability to kneel and crawl for a minimum of two minutes and drag a 175 lb. dummy a minimum of 50 feet.  Must be able to work in hazardous conditions wearing at least 65 pounds of firefighting gear including a self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), while performing firefighting duties.

Fire Call Pay: $14.07 per hour
Training Pay: $12.91 per hour
