Park Bench and Tree Dedication Program

Donating a park bench or planting a tree is a lasting way to honor the memory of a loved one. The City of Savage can assist citizens with this meaningful gesture through its Park Bench and Tree Dedication Program.

In addition to publicly honoring a friend or family member who has died, a bench or a tree can enhance the City’s park system and help beautify the community.

How to Get Started

To dedicate a tree or bench for a City park, contact the City of Savage Public Works Department by calling 952-224-3402 or emailing This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. An order form also may be submitted to initiate the process.

City of Savage staff can assist in making the dedication as special as possible by helping to:

• select a location
• determine the appropriate tree species, if applicable
• ordering dedication plaque
• scheduling the bench’s installation or tree’s planting

Options

The City of Savage typically plants trees that are 2- to 3-inches in diameter. Available species include Crabapple, Hackberry, Hawthorn, Linden, Maple, Oak, and Kentucky Coffee Tree.

Benches are metal coated, 6 feet in length and attached to a concrete pad.

Costs

Each tree and bench vary. Staff will work with you to determine the proper selection for your budget. A small dedication plaque, engraved with your message, will be placed next to the tree or mounted on the bench as appropriate.
