Recycling and Composting

Savage residents and businesses contract with private refuse haulers in order to dispose of waste. Businesses must be licensed with the City in order to operate and collect in Savage.

Yard Waste

The Organics Recycling Facility will be offering the "Free Yard Waste Drop Off Program" to all Scott County residents during the months of April and May.

Residents may drop off their yard waste during the following hours of operation:

  • April 
    Sundays • 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. 
  • May 
    Sundays • 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Items accepted at no cost during these times are leaves, shrubs, brush and logs, mulch, grass clippings, and other organics.

The Organics Recycling Facility is located at 1905 Canterbury Road, Shakopee.


Household and Hazardous Waste Facility

Scott County's Household Hazardous Waste Facility is available for use by County residents. The facility provides for the proper disposal of household hazardous waste to limit impacts to health and ground water.  Examples of items that will be accepted include:

    • Paint and stain products
    • Wood preservatives
    • Yard chemicals
    • Automotive chemicals
    • Adhesives and solvents
    • Aerol spray products
    • Household cleaners
    • Appliances
    • Electronics
    • Tires
    • Scrap metal

The facility also includes a RE-USE Room where residents and business can look through household products that are still in good useable condition.
