Post Date:12/21/2023 12:30 PM

Savage, Minn. (December 21, 2023)  The 2023 holiday video created by the City of Savage Communications Division for the Savage Fire Department has gone viral! Since being posted on TikTok less than 24 hours ago, the video has over 718.6K views, 101.0K likes, 671 comments, 4.7K saves, and 4.9K shares, and continues to grow. WATCH IT HERE.

It has become an annual tradition for the Communications team of Digital Media Coordinate Anthony Miller and Graphic Designer Katie Gieseke to create a holiday video with the Savage Fire Department. The videos have spoofed well-known holiday movies for the past two years, including Home Alone and Elf. This year’s video is their take on The Griswold Christmas Vacation. The videos are created, filmed, and edited in-house by the city’s communication team and feature members of the Savage Fire Department, and they even included a neighboring community last year.

Besides having fun and wishing our community a happy holiday, the videos have become a key component of the Savage Fire Department’s outreach initiatives. “These videos have significantly impacted our recruitment efforts,” states Fire Chief Jeremie Bresnahan. “Their creative approach and commitment have played a pivotal role in showcasing our department’s dedication and spirit, perfectly aligning with our city’s vision of inclusivity and warmth.”

This year’s video was posted on all the city’s social media platforms, but was the first year it was posted on TikTok. “It’s wild to see how big of a reach this video is getting,” states Graphic Designer Katie Gieseke. “Now we are just waiting for Chevy Chase to respond! He’s been tagged multiple times!”
