Dates: Thursdays, September 12 - November 7, 2024 (no academy October 31)
Time: 5:30 - 8:30 p.m.
Location: Police Department, 6000 McColl Drive
Cost: FREE and open to all interested adults, 18 years and older
What to expect:
- Week 1: Police Department Introduction, SWAT
- Week 2: Investigations, fingerprint activity, crime scene
- Week 3: Traffic stops and LIDAR, School Resource Officer
- Week 4: Use of force (shoot/don’t shoot simulator, range)
- Week 5: Mental Health and Drug Task Force with K9 Gunnar
- Week 6: Fire Department introduction, station tour, and gear demo
- Week 7: Medical assessment and treatments
- Week 8: CPR certification course and graduation
The following are conditions of acceptance prior to participation in the Citizens Police Academy program. Applicants must pass a criminal background check in order to participate. Please download and complete the following forms and attach them at the end of your application; or email them to Crime Prevention Specialist Jennifer Wells within one week of submitting your application.
