The Public Works Department includes Engineering, Natural and Water Resources, Park Maintenance, Street Maintenance, Utility Maintenance, and Parks and Recreation divisions. These divisions are responsible for operating and maintaining City infrastructure and providing other services to the community. The infrastructure includes streets, parks, trails, sidewalks, potable water supply, treatment and distribution, sanitary sewer collection, storm water treatment and conveyance, and public natural areas. Services include recreation, engineering, street sweeping, snow and ice control, fleet maintenance, etc. The department functions on a pool concept to accomplish public works initiatives. This includes sharing maintenance operators and equipment across divisions based on departmental priorities.
