NEW! Dashboard for PFAS testing in drinking water

(June, 2022) A new tool is available to help monitor levels of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). PFAS are a family of human-made chemicals that were used for decades to make products that resist heat, oil, stains, grease, and water. Some PFAS are commonly found at low levels in drinking water.

The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) has been testing for PFAS in community water systems since 2021. Testing is the first step in reducing risks from PFAS exposure. Recently,  MDH released an interactive online dashboard that shows results of statewide testing in public water systems. Minnesota residents who get their drinking water from a community public water system can now find out if their system's water has any level of PFAS. This new dashboard is one more tool for health officials and communities to manage any changes in PFAS occurrence or health risk understanding in the future.
